Our first visit to Dutch Bros. was a pleasant one, filled with the excitement of trying a new coffee shop that has garnered a significant following in recent years. There were people outside taking orders. They were friendly and answered our drink questions. Despite the enjoyable customer service, we did ourselves questioning the immense hype surrounding this place. We're just being honest.

We ordered the Golden Eagle, a delightful beverage that features a harmonious blend of caramel and vanilla, served over ice to create a refreshing iced drink. As we took our first sips, we were immediately struck by the smoothness of the drink, with the rich, buttery flavor of caramel perfectly complementing the sweet, creamy notes of vanilla. The drink was indeed delicious, offering a satisfying sweetness that lingered on the palate. However, while the Golden Eagle was enjoyable and certainly a treat, it didn't quite stand out as something uniquely special or innovative compared to what you might find at popular coffee chains like 7 Brew or Starbucks. Both of those establishments are known for their extensive menus of iced beverages, including caramel and vanilla options, which often feature similar flavor profiles and sweetness levels. In essence, while the Golden Eagle was a tasty choice for a quick pick-me-up, it felt more like a familiar classic rather than a groundbreaking creation that would leave a lasting impression.

We appreciated the quality of the drinks and the vibrant energy of the space, but despite being enjoyable, the experience didn’t fully match the lofty expectations set by glowing recommendations.

Is it just another drive thru drink joint? Sort of. Will we return? Yes.
