We had a splendid stay at Element by Westin, which spanned multiple days and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the comfort and amenities the hotel had to offer. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for our entire visit. The rooms were not only clean but also featured a modern design aesthetic that combined both style and functionality. The spacious layouts and thoughtful furnishings made our stay incredibly comfortable, providing us with a perfect retreat after a day of exploration. Element is an extended stay type of hotel that caters specifically to guests who require accommodations for longer periods, typically exceeding a week. These hotels are designed to provide a home-like environment, making them ideal for business travelers, families relocating, or individuals in need of temporary housing. The staff at Element by Westin truly enhanced our experience with their friendly demeanor and attentive service. Each member of the team seemed genuinely committed to ensuring that our needs were met, from offering helpful local tips to promptly addressing any requests we had during our stay. Their hospitality made us feel valued and added a personal touch to our experience, which is often hard to find in larger hotels. One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary breakfast offered in the modern open lobby area, which was designed to foster a sense of community among guests. The space was bright and inviting, with ample seating that encouraged mingling and relaxation. Although we did not partake in the breakfast during our visit, we observed a diverse selection of options available, ranging from healthy choices. The layout of the breakfast area was convenient, allowing guests to easily navigate the offerings and enjoy their meals at their own pace. Overall, our experience at Element by Westin was marked by comfort, exceptional service, and a vibrant atmosphere that made our stay memorable. - 2025 Review of Cracker Barrel's Turkey & Dressing Thanksgiving Meal
Homestyle Turkey & Dressing Meal (RoadTour.Net Photo) Here's our review of the Homestyle Turkey & Dressing Meal that Cracker Barrel dished out this Thanksgiving day. Well, the good news is that it's edible. For those who find themselves in a rush or simply do not have the time to engage in the often time-consuming process of cooking, this meal presents a viable option. It’s convenient and caters to individuals seeking a quick solution to their dining needs. Upon tasting the turkey, I can confidently say they didn’t screw it up. The flavor was satisfactory, and the meat was somewhat moist, which is always a positive attribute for turkey, as it can often be dry and unappetizing if not prepared correctly. However, it is worth noting that they did not provide us with any extra gravy, which could have enhanced the overall experience of the turkey. Interestingly, I observed the waitress retrieve our to-go order from a heating cabinet. This made me ponder the efficiency of the service, especially since we stood waiting for our food for a full 15 minutes. If the food was readily available in the cabinet, it raises the question of why we had to wait at all. It seems like a missed opportunity for better service and quicker turnaround times for customers who are in a hurry. As for the sweet potato casserole, it left much to be desired. It was not sweet enough for my liking, and I found myself disliking the unexpected crunch of the nuts mixed in. When I think of sweet potato casserole, I envision a delightful blend of flavors dominated by cinnamon and a hint of marshmallow sweetness. Unfortunately, this dish did not meet those expectations, which was quite disappointing. The dressing, too, was lacking in flavor. The dressing was just a scoop of mush to us. It came across as very bland, which is unfortunate given that dressing can be such a flavorful component of a meal when prepared with the right spices and herbs. It certainly needed more seasoning or perhaps a touch of something extra to elevate its taste profile. On a more positive note, the green beans were a pleasant surprise. They had a nice flavor, which I suspect was enhanced by the addition of salt pork or some similar seasoning. The taste was quite enjoyable and stood out as one of the better elements of the meal. The cornbread was typical southern Cracker Barrel cornbread, which was not sweet, but still was a good balance to the meal. I never understood people who liked cornbread that was sweet like cake. If you want cake, get cake. The dessert, pumpkin pie, was actually the second best tasting thing next to the turkey, which had taken center stage as the star of the meal. The pumpkin pie, with its rich, creamy but firm filling made from pureed pumpkin, was a delightful complement to the overall meal. The sweetness of the pie was balanced beautifully with a medley of warm spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, which danced on the palate and evoked the comforting essence of fall. Cracker Barrel Pumpkin Pie (RoadTour.Net Photo) The price for the meal was set at $17.49, which, upon reflection, seems somewhat steep considering the quality and overall experience we received. In my opinion, a more appropriate price point for what was presented would have been around $15.49. This adjustment would not only align better with the expectations of diners but also reflect the value of the ingredients and preparation that went into the meal. While the meal was, at the very least, edible and fulfilled its basic purpose of providing sustenance, it left much to be desired in terms of flavor and seasoning. The dish had the potential to be a delightful culinary experience, yet it fell short in delivering a robust and memorable taste. Enhancing the seasoning could transform the meal from merely acceptable to truly enjoyable, providing a richer and more satisfying experience for the palate. I sincerely hope that the Cracker Barrel takes this feedback into consideration and makes further improvements to the meal, as it could greatly benefit from a more thoughtful approach to flavor development and ingredient balance. By doing so, they would not only elevate the dining experience but also justify the price point they have set for it. In saying all that, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to Cracker Barrel and its dedicated employees for their commitment to serving the community on Thanksgiving Day. It is truly commendable that, while many people are enjoying the warmth and comfort of their homes surrounded by loved ones, the staff at Cracker Barrel has chosen to be on duty, providing meals and a welcoming atmosphere for those who may not have the opportunity to celebrate the holiday in a traditional manner. Their willingness to sacrifice personal time with family and friends demonstrates a remarkable level of dedication and service to others. It is this spirit of generosity and selflessness that not only enhances the dining experience but also fosters a sense of community during a time that is meant for togetherness. The hard work and effort put forth by each employee, from the cooks preparing delicious meals to the servers ensuring that every guest feels valued and cared for, do not go unnoticed. Thank you once again to Cracker Barrel and its employees for embodying the true meaning of hospitality and for making Thanksgiving a special occasion for many who walk through your doors.

- LongHorn Remains Delicious in More Ways Than One
Outside a LongHorn Location in Indiana (RoadTour.Net Photo) We had a truly memorable visit to LongHorn Steakhouse recently, and we felt compelled to share our experience with others who may be considering dining there. LongHorn has been a staple in the casual dining scene for quite some time now, since 1981 to be exact, yet it seems to fly under the radar compared to its more widely recognized counterpart, Outback Steakhouse. It's interesting to note that while Outback has garnered a significant amount of attention and popularity over the years, LongHorn deserves equal recognition for its quality offerings and inviting atmosphere. The design inside the restaurant is warm and cozy. Loved it. Upon arriving at LongHorn, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming ambiance that set the tone for the evening. The decor featured rustic elements that evoke a sense of the great American frontier, complete with wooden accents and a comfortable and clean booth. The service we received during our visit was exceptional. Our server was not only friendly but also demonstrated a genuine eagerness to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. She took the time to explain the menu options and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. Throughout our meal, she frequently checked in on us, asking if we needed anything and ensuring that we were satisfied with every aspect of our dining experience. This level of attentiveness is often what separates a good restaurant from a great one, and LongHorn certainly excels in this regard. Porterhouse Steak from LongHorn (RoadTour.Net Photo) Now, let’s talk about the food, which is ultimately the highlight of any dining experience. The steak we ordered was nothing short of spectacular. A 22-ounce bone-in porterhouse steak cooked to perfection at a medium doneness, it was incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. Each bite was tender and satisfying, showcasing the quality of the meat and the skill of the kitchen staff. Accompanying the steak were mashed potatoes that were equally impressive—creamy, buttery, and seasoned just right. They complemented the steak beautifully, creating a harmonious balance of flavors that made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, our visit to LongHorn was not just a meal; it was a delightful culinary journey that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great steakhouse experience. Stop by and give them a visit!
- 4 Whataburger Location Visits, 4 Letdowns
Outside a Whataburger Location (RoadTour.Net Photo) Whataburger is Whataterrible. Over the past 45 days or so, we have had the unfortunate experience of visiting four different Whataburger locations across three states: two in Mississippi, one in Georgia, and one in South Carolina. Each visit has been a lesson in frustration, leading us to question the viability of their expansion plans. To put it bluntly, Whataburger should seriously consider pausing its growth initiatives until they can adequately manage the locations they currently operate. It seems evident that they are struggling to maintain quality and efficiency at their existing establishments. In each instance, we encountered notably slow drive-thru service, which was disappointing. The lines, while not excessively long, were moving at a pace that suggested a lack of organization or staffing issues. This raises an important question: have other customers begun to recognize that their service is subpar? It certainly felt that way during our visits. Whataburger Drink Cup Outside a Georgia Location (RoadTour.Net Photo) One particular location served us a sweet tea that was filled with ice, but not enough to make it refreshing; instead, we ended up with a cup of warm sweet tea, which was quite unappetizing. Most recently, we ordered sweet tea again, and to our dismay, the flavor was off, leading us to suspect that it had been sitting around for far too long. Such inconsistencies in beverage quality are unacceptable, especially for a chain that prides itself on its customer service and menu offerings. Bagged Meal from Whataburger (RoadTour.Net Photo) Moreover, we found the food to be rather overpriced, with the Sweet & Spicy burger costing over $8.00. This price point feels outrageous considering the overall experience we received, which did not meet our expectations for quality or value. While we did encounter friendly staff members during our visits, their amiability did little to mitigate the issues we faced, including the slow service, substandard sweet teas, and high prices. It is clear that Whataburger needs to reevaluate its operational strategies and focus on improving the customer experience before attempting to expand further. Until then, we remain skeptical about the future of this chain and whether it can truly deliver on its promises of quality and service. If they are not careful, they will become like Jack in the Box, expanded to territory their were not familiar with, delivered bad service, and ended up closing a bunch of locations.
- Dairi-O Soars into the Road Tour 10 List in the #9 Spot
Custom Burger with Chili and Cheese from Dairi-O (RoadTour.Net Photo) North Carolina fast food burger joint Dairi-O has made a significant impression on us twice in the competitive landscape of American fast food, securing its place as the ninth best fast food chain in the U.S. as it enters the Road Tour 10. This ranking highlights the growing popularity and customer satisfaction that Dairi-O has achieved, particularly in a market saturated with numerous burger options. In contrast, the well-known chain Culver's has experienced a decline in its standing, falling to tenth place, particularly following a recent visit to one of its Wisconsin locations, which raised questions about the quality of it's service and food quality. Additionally, Golden Chick, once a contender in the fast food realm, has unfortunately fallen off the list altogether. Outside a Dairi-O Location in North Carolina (RoadTour.Net Photo) Dairi-O's success can largely be attributed to its commitment to quality. The restaurant prides itself on serving customized burgers that cater to individual tastes and preferences, ensuring that each meal is fresh and tailored to the customer's liking. And they have HUGE crinkle cut seasoned fries. Delicious. This dedication to quality is complemented by their reputation for friendly and fast service, which enhances the overall dining experience. We appreciated not only the speed at which their orders are fulfilled but also the welcoming atmosphere created by the staff, making each visit enjoyable. Moreover, Dairi-O's extensive menu is another factor that sets it apart from other fast food chains. While their custom burgers are undoubtedly the star of the show, the menu also boasts a diverse range of options, from crispy chicken sandwiches to delicious sides like onion rings and fries. For those with a sweet tooth, Dairi-O offers delightful treats such as banana splits and milkshakes, providing a well-rounded dining experience that appeals to families and individuals alike. This variety ensures that there is something for everyone, making Dairi-O a go-to burger joint whenever one is in proximity to one of their locations. The combination of quality, speed, and a broad menu has solidified Dairi-O's reputation as a beloved fast food destination in North Carolina and beyond.
- Quick Service Restaurants Struggling, Go figure
Outside a Mississippi Whataburger (RoadTour.Net Photo) Fast food chains are currently facing significant challenges, and the situation appears to be worsening. Recent reports indicate that Wendy's is in the process of shuttering hundreds of its locations across the country, a troubling sign that reflects broader issues within the fast food industry. Similarly, other popular chains such as Chipotle and Sweetgreen are experiencing a sharp decline in revenues, leading many to question the sustainability of their business models. This downturn in performance is not entirely surprising given the current economic climate and shifting consumer preferences. But what is rarely discussed is the poor customer service and terrible cleanliness which are contributing factors. Many of these companies also show disdain for their own customers by their decisions. Slop bowl Chipotle has long been on our radar for terrible customer service. Bojangles Chicken Sandwich (RoadTour.Net Photo) The prices at many fast food establishments have reached levels that many customers find outrageous, leading to a growing sense of dissatisfaction among patrons. As consumers become more price-sensitive, particularly in the face of rising inflation and economic uncertainty, they are increasingly reluctant to spend their hard-earned money on meals that they perceive as overpriced. In addition to the financial aspect, many customers have reported experiencing a decline in customer service quality and overall cleanliness at these establishments, which is at an all-time low. Such negative experiences can severely impact customer loyalty and deter repeat business, creating a vicious cycle that many chains now find themselves trapped in. Furthermore, it is worth noting that several chains, particularly Wendy's, have strayed significantly from their original concepts and values that once resonated with their customer base. In an effort to compete with newer, trendier options, these chains have often compromised on the very qualities that made them popular in the first place. This deviation from their roots has not only confused loyal customers but has also alienated them, leading to a decline in brand trust and recognition. As a result, the current struggles of these fast food giants are partly self-inflicted, stemming from decisions that prioritize short-term gains over long-term sustainability and customer satisfaction. It didn't take take a crystal ball to know what would happen. Outside a Midwest Wendy's (RoadTour.Net Photo) Now, more than ever, is the time for these fast food chains to reevaluate their strategies and consider a significant course correction. A return to their roots could be a beneficial approach; this would involve not only revisiting their original menus and values but also re-establishing a commitment to quality and customer service that customers can rely on. Lowering prices could also play a crucial role in regaining consumer trust and attracting a broader customer base. Focus on enforcing good customer behaviors and strict cleanliness standards would be a great start. Additionally, thinking outside the box is essential in this rapidly evolving market; chains should explore innovative menu options and invest in improving the overall dining experience. By making these adjustments, fast food chains can not only survive but potentially thrive in an increasingly competitive and economically tough landscape. See the list of the Top 10 Fast Food Chains here .
- Buc-ee's vs. Wally's: The Possible Showdown in Whitestown, Indiana
Outside an Illinois Wally's (RoadTour.Net Photo) The ultimate gas station showdown between Buc-ee's and Wally's could be in Whitestown, Indiana, a northern suburb of Indianapolis that has been experiencing significant growth and development in recent years. The gas station wars in general is heating up in the Midwest as Sheetz, RaceTrac, QuikTrip, and Wawa are moving in. According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, which has reported on this exciting development, sources indicate that Buc-ee's is actively exploring the possibility of opening a new location east of I-65 in Boone County. This is in addition to a possible site south of the city in Greenwood. This proposed site is strategically positioned along County Road 550, just an exit south of the Wally's that is currently under construction, making this a highly competitive scenario for both establishments. Outside a Kentucky Buc-ee's (RoadTour.Net Photo) Buc-ee's, renowned for its expansive convenience stores, unique branding, and extensive selection of food and merchandise, has garnered a devoted following among travelers and locals alike. With its signature clean restrooms, vast array of snacks, and Texas-themed merchandise, Buc-ee's has transformed the traditional gas station experience into something much more enjoyable and memorable. On the other hand, Wally's, a newer player in the gas station arena, is also making a name for itself by offering a similar combination of fuel, food, and convenience, albeit with its own distinct flair, style, and offerings that cater to a different audience. Both gas stations are massive beasts boasting over 70 gas pumps. Inside an Illinois Wally's (RoadTour.Net Photo) The proximity of these two gas stations to one another raises intriguing questions about consumer behavior and market dynamics in the region. Will the presence of Buc-ee's, with its established reputation and loyal customer base, overshadow Wally's emerging brand? Or will Wally's innovative approach and fresh concept attract enough attention to carve out its own niche in the competitive landscape? As both gas stations vie for the attention of motorists and local residents, it will be fascinating to observe how they differentiate themselves and what strategies they employ to win over customers in this bustling area. Furthermore, the implications of this competition extend beyond just the two gas stations. The arrival of Buc-ee's and Wally's in Whitestown could potentially influence local economies, creating jobs and stimulating growth in the surrounding community. As these establishments invest in their locations, they may also spur additional businesses to open nearby, enhancing the overall appeal of the area as a destination for travelers and locals alike. This gas station showdown is not just about fuel and snacks; it represents a larger trend in consumer preferences and the evolving landscape of convenience retailing in suburban America. The potential face-off between Buc-ee's and Wally's in Whitestown, Indiana, is shaping up to be an exciting chapter in the ongoing evolution of gas station culture and convenience shopping. As both companies prepare to establish their foothold in this promising market, the outcome remains uncertain, but the competition is sure to bring about an interesting dynamic that will benefit consumers and the local community in the long run. Both gas stations are in Road Tour's Top 10 list. See our list here . We love them both!!
- Slurpin at 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee
Outside a Northern Mississippi 7 Brew Location (RoadTour.Net Photo) We have seen an impressive number of 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee locations popping up all over the place, from the bustling streets of the Midwest to the charming towns of the South. This rapid expansion of their coffee shops has sparked our curiosity, compelling us to give them a try and experience what all the buzz is about. The particular location we chose to visit was situated in the scenic region of Northern Mississippi, which is known for its picturesque landscapes and friendly communities. Upon our arrival, we were immediately struck by the vibrant exterior of the drive-thru, which was adorned with colorful signage and an inviting atmosphere that beckoned coffee lovers from afar. As we entered the drive thru lane, we were greeted by a gentleman who was not only friendly but also exuded a genuine enthusiasm for the brand and its offerings. His welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home, and we appreciated his willingness to engage with us. We mentioned that we were first-time visitors to 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee, and he was more than happy to share his insights and recommendations. He took the time to explain their menu, which featured a wide array of coffee beverages, from classic espresso drinks to unique seasonal specialties that piqued our interest. In addition to providing us with helpful suggestions on what to order, he also introduced us to the 7 Brew Rewards program. This loyalty initiative is designed to enhance the customer experience by allowing patrons to earn free drinks and other exciting perks. Blondie from 7 Brew (RoadTour.Net Photo) After placing our order based on his recommendations, we felt a sense of anticipation as we waited for our drinks to be prepared. We tried the Blondie, and it was absolutely delicious. The first sip was a delightful experience, as the smooth texture and rich flavors enveloped our taste buds in a warm embrace. The drink had a beautiful golden and white hue that hinted at its sweetness, and the aroma was inviting, promising a delightful treat. The only issue we encountered was that we didn't really taste any coffee in the drink. Instead, it predominantly tasted like caramel-flavored cream, which, while undeniably enjoyable, led us to feel a bit misled in terms of what we had anticipated. We were hoping for a more pronounced coffee flavor that would provide a robust contrast to the sweetness of the caramel. The balance of flavors is crucial in a beverage like this, and while the creamy caramel notes were beautifully executed, they somewhat overshadowed the coffee essence we were looking forward to. Don't get us wrong; the drink was delicious, and we appreciated the craftsmanship that went into creating such a lovely concoction. However, we expected some coffee taste to be more prominent, as it is often the defining characteristic of drinks that are meant to highlight coffee as a key ingredient. In conclusion, while the Blondie was a delightful indulgence that we would certainly enjoy again, we would recommend it to those who appreciate sweet, creamy drinks without the strong presence of coffee. It’s an excellent choice for someone looking for a dessert-like beverage rather than a traditional coffee drink. On a slight different note, as we waiting for our drinks to be prepared, we found ourselves within earshot of a couple of employees engaged in what could only be described as walking quick gossip. I wish we didn't hear drama. Not a fan of employee drama from our management experience. We highly recommend that you give 7 Brew a chance to impress you with their offerings. Whether you're in a rush on your way to work or looking to relax with a cup of coffee. We encourage you to visit and see for yourself why so many people keep coming back.
- The Truth About Noodles and Company
Exterior of a Midwest Noodles & Company Location (RoadTour.Net Photo) The Noodles and Company concept is a fantastic one. Noodles from all over the world and fresh ingredients. What could go wrong? With noodles from various international cuisines, paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients, it creates a vibrant dining experience that appeals to a wide array of tastes. The idea of combining different noodle dishes under one roof is innovative and allows for a versatile menu that can cater to both adventurous eaters and those who prefer classic comfort foods. However, despite the exciting premise, there are certain aspects of the menu and food preparation that can indeed go wrong, potentially diminishing the overall dining experience. For nearly 20 years, the Pad Thai has stood out as our beloved go-to menu item, alongside the iconic Mac & Cheese. As we now have this digital publication platform at our disposal, it is the perfect opportunity to voice our thoughts and feedback regarding these popular dishes. One particular concern that is the lack of sufficient cheese for the Mac & Cheese. This makes Noodles and Company not look serious. Serious effort needs to be taken. The balance of flavors is crucial in a dish that is meant to be indulgent, and unfortunately, it seems that the current rendition leans heavily towards being all noodle and not enough cheese. To elevate this dish to meet the expectations of Mac & Cheese enthusiasts, a potential improvement could be to incorporate a Southern Baked Mac & Cheese style. This approach would involve using multiple varieties of cheddar cheese, which would not only enhance the flavor profile but also create a more satisfying, gooey texture that is characteristic of a truly decadent Mac & Cheese. Bulgogi Steak Mac & Cheese Dish at Noodles & Co. (RoadTour.Net Photo) We recently had the opportunity to try the Bulgogi Steak Mac & Cheese, a dish that promised a fusion of rich flavors and comforting textures. However, our experience with it left much to be desired. The steak, which is a key component of this dish, turned out to be quite chewy, almost to the point of being difficult to enjoy. The texture was not what one would hope for in a dish that combines tender meat with creamy macaroni and cheese. Instead of complementing the dish, the chewy nature of the steak detracted from the overall enjoyment, making each bite a bit of a challenge rather than a delight. Moreover, the dish had an unfortunate watery quality that further impacted its appeal. Instead of a rich, creamy sauce enveloping the pasta and steak, we found ourselves confronted with a consistency that felt more like a thin broth than the indulgent mac and cheese experience we anticipated. The flavors, while present, did not meld together harmoniously, leading to a somewhat disjointed tasting experience. The combination of chewy steak and a watery sauce created a dish that, in essence, felt unbalanced and lacking in depth. Overall, our impression of the Bulgogi Steak Mac & Cheese was that it was a chewy, watery dish that failed to live up to its potential, leaving us longing for a more satisfying and cohesive meal. Additionally, it may be beneficial to gather comprehensive feedback from patrons regarding their preferences and any potential gaps in the current menu offerings. Engaging with customers through surveys, suggestion boxes, or informal conversations can provide valuable insights into what dishes resonate most with them and what they feel might be missing. Understanding their tastes can guide menu development and ensure it aligns with the desires of the clientele. Furthermore, I would emphasize the need to increase the variety of American dishes available. The culinary landscape is rich with diverse flavors and traditional recipes that can appeal to a broad audience. Bringing back some old American noodle dish favorites could be a fantastic way to evoke nostalgia and attract both new customers and those who fondly remember these classic meals. It’s important to note that the repertoire of American cuisine extends far beyond the well-loved Mac & Cheese; it includes a plethora of regional specialties and lesser-known dishes that could invigorate the menu. Consider incorporating dishes such as hearty beef stroganoff, or even a comforting chicken noodle casserole. Each of these dishes has its own unique history and flavor profile that could enhance the dining experience. Additionally, exploring variations that incorporate local ingredients or modern twists on these classics could further elevate the menu and make it stand out. By doing so, not only will you cater to the tastes of your patrons, but you will also celebrate the rich tapestry of American culinary heritage, creating a dining experience that is both familiar and exciting.
- Hotel Booking - Buyer Beware: Hotwire.com
Exterior of a Hotel Booked on Hotwire (RoadTour.Net Photo) Upon pulling up to the hotel that was booked on Hotwire, I immediately knew this could be a terrible experience. The first thing that caught my eye was the disarray of construction containers that littered the parking lot, a clear indication that this hotel was undergoing a significant remodel. The sight of these large, unsightly containers, filled with debris and construction materials, gave me pause and raised a red flag about the quality of my stay due to previous hotels that were "Hot Rate". Screen Capture of Hot Rate Hotel from Hotwire Hotwire is widely recognized as a fantastic platform for securing hotel deals, making it an appealing choice for travelers looking to save money on accommodations. However, it is essential to exercise caution when booking through this service. One notable feature of Hotwire is their "Hot Rate" hotels, which offer significant discounts on room rates. While the allure of these deals can be tempting, potential customers should be aware that there have been several instances where these discounted hotels were undergoing renovations or remodeling during the stay. They can also be hotel rooms that are handicap accessible rooms (and personally, I don't like those tubs or lack of tubs replaced with floor showers). One time we even got a hotel with no electricity, though I don't know if they made it a "Hot Rate" hotel because of that or if it was just bad luck. Dirty Elevator at Hotel Booked on Hotwire (RoadTour.Net Photo) Therefore, while Hotwire can indeed be a great resource for finding affordable accommodations, it is advisable for travelers to read reviews carefully and consider reaching out to the hotel directly to inquire about any ongoing renovations or potential disruptions before finalizing their booking. This proactive approach can help ensure a more pleasant and satisfactory experience during your travels. You can also simply avoid the "Hot Rate" hotels altogether.
- Huey Magoo's & Culver's Beats Raising Cane's Easily
Huey Magoo's Chicken Sandwich & Fries (RoadTour.Net Photo) Huey Magoo's and Culver's chicken sandwiches taste better than Raising Cane's. We will explain. But first, what we think about Raising Cane's. Raising Cane's is nothing but a show. Wrapped in the veil of college sports by their decor and building designs, they attempt to create an atmosphere that resonates with the vibrant energy of collegiate athletics. However, this façade cannot hide the underlying issues that plague the establishment, such as the tasteless chicken that fails to live up to the hype, the subpar customer service that leaves patrons feeling undervalued, and the frustratingly long drive-thru waits that test the patience of even the most devoted fans. Our experiences at various Raising Cane's locations in states like Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Ohio have only reinforced these sentiments. Our multiple visits specifically to two locations in Minnesota further exemplified these issues. The drive-thru line was excessively long, stretching well beyond the parking lot nearly into the street. Despite the apparent popularity of the chain, the efficiency of service was lacking, and we found ourselves waiting far longer than anticipated. The taste of Raising Cane's is often a subject of polarizing opinions among its patrons. For many, the experience of dining at this fast-food chain can be summed up in a few words: you either love their signature sauce or you absolutely detest it. This unique dipping sauce, which is a key component of the brand's identity, has a tarty flavor profile that some find delightful, while others feel it simply does not resonate with their palate. The breading lacks the depth of flavor one might expect from fried chicken. It often seems to lack seasoning, which can leave the chicken feeling somewhat bland and unexciting. This absence of a well-rounded seasoning blend can result in a taste experience that feels flat, failing to deliver the savory satisfaction that fried chicken enthusiasts often seek. Furthermore, the breading can sometimes taste more like cooking oil than a crispy, flavorful coating, which detracts from the overall enjoyment of the meal. After a delightful visit to Huey Magoo's and Culver's in the last few days, we took note of the distinct qualities of their customer service, which stood out to us as being notably more genuine and personable compared to our experiences at Raising Cane's. At Huey Magoo's, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and a welcoming attitude that made us feel valued as customers. Similarly, at Culver's, the employees exhibited a strong sense of hospitality. In contrast, our experiences at Raising Cane's left us with a different impression of their customer service. The interactions felt somewhat disingenuous, as if the staff were merely going through the motions rather than genuinely caring about the customers they were serving. The environment reminded us more of a chaotic frat house than a restaurant focused on providing quality service. Exterior of a Huey Magoo's Location (RoadTour.Net Photo) When comparing the chicken sandwiches from Huey Magoo's and Culver's, it's clear that both establishments offer a unique take on this classic dish, but the freshness of the ingredients sets them apart significantly. At Culver's, the chicken sandwich not only boasts a succulent and juicy chicken breast, but it also features lettuce that provides a satisfying crunch with every bite. This fresh crunch in the lettuce elevates the overall texture of the sandwich, making it a delightful experience for anyone who enjoys a bit of crispness alongside their savory chicken. On the other hand, the toasted bun at Huey Magoo's is something truly special. It is not just any ordinary bun; it has a rich, buttery flavor that enhances the overall taste of the sandwich. The toasting process seems to lock in the delicious buttery essence, creating a warm and inviting base for the chicken and toppings. This attention to detail in the bun's preparation adds a layer of indulgence that is hard to find elsewhere. In contrast, the buns at Raising Cane's do not carry the same buttery toast flavor that one would expect from a well-crafted sandwich. They tend to be more plain and lack the depth of flavor that a toasted bun can provide, which can detract from the overall enjoyment of the sandwich. When it comes to sauces, the Magoo's sauce at Huey Magoo's presents a unique profile that is worth noting. While it may remind some of the sauce offered at Raising Cane's, there is a distinct difference that sets it apart. The Magoo's sauce has a less tangy quality that is more pronounced, coupled with a creaminess that makes it rich and flavorful. This combination creates a delightful contrast to the savory chicken, enhancing the taste experience and leaving a lasting impression. In summary, the chicken sandwiches from Huey Magoo's and Culver's not only highlight the freshness of their ingredients but also showcase the importance of flavor and texture in creating a memorable meal. Huey Magoo's is well-known for its delightful banana pudding, a dessert that has garnered a loyal following due to its creamy texture and rich flavor. This beloved treat is often praised for its perfect balance of sweetness, with layers of fresh bananas and velvety pudding that create a comforting and indulgent experience. Alongside this classic dessert, Huey Magoo's menu features a variety of other options that cater to different tastes and preferences, making it a popular choice for those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. On the other hand, Culver's takes dessert to another level with its extensive selection of custard-based treats. The menu includes a wide variety of flavors and combinations, allowing customers to enjoy everything from classic vanilla and chocolate to innovative seasonal offerings. In stark contrast, Raising Cane's falls short in the dessert department. While the restaurant is renowned for its chicken fingers and signature dipping sauces, its dessert offerings is basically zero. It's time to skip Raising Cane's sports antics, lackluster taste, and crappy customer service, and start looking for Culver's and Huey Magoo's for your next chicken meal.
