The first Original Pancake House opened its doors in 1953 in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. This establishment quickly became a beloved destination for breakfast enthusiasts, renowned for its commitment to quality and tradition in pancake making. Over the years, The Original Pancake House has expanded beyond its humble beginnings, establishing locations in multiple states across the country, each one striving to uphold the same high standards set by its founders. Recently, we decided to stop by one of these charming locations of the Original Pancake House, a restaurant that has become a familiar favorite for us throughout our travels. Having visited various branches in different states over the years, we were eager to see if their famous breakfast offerings still lived up to our fond memories and expectations.

The best way to describe The Original Pancake House is a classic American diner with a modern flair that seamlessly blends nostalgic charm with contemporary dining experiences. This beloved establishment evokes feelings of warmth and familiarity, reminiscent of the traditional diners that have been a staple in American culture for decades. The ambiance is further enhanced by the friendly and attentive staff. Our server took good care of us.

The eggs, corned beef hash, and potatoes were cooked to perfection, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that delighted the palate. The potatoes, diced into small cubes and fried until golden brown, were seasoned just right, adding a delightful crunch that paired beautifully with the softness of the eggs and the savory notes of the hash. Additionally, the strawberry-topped waffle was a delightful treat that added a sweet touch to the meal. The waffle itself was light and fluffy, with a perfectly crisp exterior that gave way to a tender inside.
We highly recommend that you make a visit to The Original Pancake House, a beloved establishment renowned for serving a classic American breakfast that is sure to delight your taste buds and start your day off right.
