Over the years, it can be easy to overlook what truly sets Outback apart from other casual dining options. The Bloomin' Onion is not just an appetizer; it is a signature dish that has become synonymous with the Outback Steakhouse brand. • CAVA: Have You Heard of Them?

Outside a CAVA location (RoadTour.Net Photo) CAVA is known for its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, which features a variety of fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Our first opinion of CAVA was that this location was exceptionally clean, which immediately created a positive impression as we entered the establishment. The bright, inviting atmosphere, complemented by the well-organized layout, contributed to a sense of comfort and hygiene that is often crucial for dining experiences. It is very similar to Chipotle in its layout, featuring a streamlined assembly line where customers can customize their meals with a variety of fresh ingredients. The design encourages an efficient flow, allowing patrons to see their food being prepared right before their eyes, which adds an element of transparency to the dining process. Waiting Line & Food Prep Area at CAVA (RoadTour.Net Photo) The CAVA menu presented an enticing array of options that appeared not only healthy but also vibrantly fresh, making it a delightful choice for those who prioritize nutritious eating. The selection of ingredients available is both diverse and flavorful, allowing for a variety of combinations that cater to different taste preferences and dietary needs. Ingredients available include spicy lamb meatballs, avocado, red pepper hummus, cucumber, feta, slaw, brown rice, greens, harissa vinaigrette, pickled onions, lentils, lemon herb tahini, and more. If you like these sort of things, you will enjoy their good. You have two meal choices. Bowl or pita. The bowl option is reminiscent of the popular assembly line style seen at Chipotle, where patrons can select their base, proteins, toppings, and sauces to create a personalized meal. However, at CAVA, the pita serves as a delightful alternative to a traditional burrito, providing a unique twist that sets it apart from other fast-casual dining experiences. Whether you prefer a hearty bowl brimming with colorful ingredients or a warm, stuffed pita, CAVA offers a satisfying and health-conscious dining experience that is sure to please anyone who enjoys fresh, flavorful food. A Steak + Feta Pita from CAVA (RoadTour.Net Photo) We had a great visit and hope they continue to expand their menu options. We highly recommend you give CAVA a try, as it offers a unique and flavorful dining experience that is sure to delight your taste buds.

  • The Worst Gas Station Chain

A Unplowed Speedway Location ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) Since 7-Eleven acquired the Speedway gas stations, there has been a noticeable lack of significant improvements or upgrades to the overall customer experience, with the only addition being the installation of Slurpee machines. This has led to a general consensus among us that these gas stations have deteriorated in quality and service. The following is a detailed account of the myriad of problems that have been consistently reported across various Speedway locations, highlighting the issues that plague Speedway. One of the most frustrating problems faced by customers is the frequent malfunctioning of credit card readers at the gas pumps. When these machines are out of order, customers are forced to leave the convenience of their vehicles and walk into the store to complete their transactions. This not only wastes time but also creates an inconvenience, especially in inclement weather or during busy hours when customers are eager to refuel and move on. Additionally, the lack of proper maintenance and timely repairs exacerbates the situation, leaving patrons feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the service. Another significant concern is the condition of the parking lots, particularly after snowstorms. Unplowed parking lots pose safety hazards for customers trying to navigate through snow and ice. This neglect not only makes it difficult for vehicles to enter and exit the premises safely but also reflects poorly on the management's commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for their customers. Inside the stores, the situation is equally disheartening. Inside their stores we are encountering dirty and sticky floors, which can be off-putting and raises concerns about cleanliness. Such neglect in maintaining cleanliness standards can lead to a negative customer experience and may deter repeat visits. Furthermore, the atmosphere within the stores can be quite uncomfortable. There have been instances where managers have publicly reprimanded employees, making comments about writing them up loud enough for customers to overhear. This type of behavior creates a tense environment and can make customers feel unwelcome, as it detracts from the overall experience. A well-managed store should foster a positive atmosphere for both employees and customers, and such displays of poor management only serve to highlight the dysfunction present in these gas stations. The employees don't look professional either with their visible tattoos and poor grooming standards among other things. The cluttered, dysfunctional, and dirty conditions makes it prudent to explore alternative options rather than subjecting oneself to the frustrations associated with these poorly managed Speedway locations. Avoid this place!

  • Rest Area Safety Tips

Georgia Welcome Center - Rest Area (RoadTour.Net Photo) Rest areas are common along Interstate highways. They are a great option for taking a break or getting some good sleep. Some rest areas are better than others. Always use caution when stopping at a rest area. Be aware of your surroundings. Here are our tips if you decide to make a stop. Try not to stop at a rest area alone. This includes having someone go with you to the rest room building even if they are not going to use the restroom. Never roll your windows all the way down. Never leave your doors unlocked. Keep valuables out of sight. Park near good lighting. While this can be annoying when trying to get sleep, this could lessen the chance of any issues. Lastly, make sure you are aware of any posted safety signs and policy signs. For example, some rest areas are prone to wildlife such as snakes. Some rest areas only allow you to stay for a limited amount of hours. Make sure you know!

New Ohio Wawa Location ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) Wawa has officially made a significant move into the Midwest market by opening several locations in Ohio in April, marking a pivotal moment in the convenience store and food service industry. Whether it’s a classic hoagie, a breakfast sandwich, or a fresh salad, each item is prepared with high-quality ingredients and a focus on flavor. As Wawa continues to expand its footprint in the Midwest, it will undoubtedly face challenges associated with entering a new market. However, the company’s strong brand identity, dedication to quality, and customer-centric approach position it well for success. With the anticipated openings in Indiana and possibly beyond, Wawa is set to become a beloved destination for many Midwesterners, who will soon discover the unique experience that Wawa has to offer. • Best BBQ Place + Drive-Thru

A Corky's Drive-Thru Menu Board ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) A visit to a Nashville area Corky's restaurant reminded us just how delicious their food truly is, rekindling our appreciation for their expertly crafted dishes. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of dining at two of their locations in the Memphis area, and each experience has consistently reinforced our admiration for their culinary offerings. We can confidently say that we have never had a bad meal at any of their establishments, which speaks volumes about their commitment to quality and flavor. One of the standout features of Corky's is undoubtedly their barbeque sauce, which is a harmonious blend of smoky and sweet flavors that is executed to perfection. This sauce not only enhances the taste of their meats but also adds a unique character that keeps patrons coming back for more. The balance of smokiness, which hints at the slow-cooked techniques used, combined with the sweetness that lingers on the palate, creates a truly memorable dining experience. Each bite is a testament to their dedication to traditional barbeque methods while also embracing innovative flavor profiles. In addition to the barbeque, Corky's also offers a selection of sides that perfectly complement their main dishes. From creamy coleslaw to tangy baked beans, each side is crafted with care, ensuring that every meal is well-rounded and satisfying. The portions are generous, making it easy to share or take home leftovers for later enjoyment. As we savored our meal, it became clear that Corky's dedication to quality ingredients and authentic flavors is what sets them apart in the competitive landscape of barbeque restaurants. A Corky's Combo Meal ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) If you find yourself in the beautiful state of Tennessee, a visit to Corky's is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates mouthwatering barbecue and delectable catfish. Corky's has earned a stellar reputation among locals and visitors alike for its commitment to quality and flavor, making it a standout dining destination. The moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted by the tantalizing aroma of slow-cooked meats and the inviting atmosphere that reflects the rich culinary traditions of the South. Indulging in their barbecue and catfish will not only satisfy your hunger but also give you a taste of the rich culinary heritage that the South has to offer.

  • Shake Shack Ripoff

Atlanta-Area Shake Shack Location ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) There is nothing worse than feeling ripped off, and unfortunately, that is a sentiment that many customers experience when they visit Shake Shack. Welcome to Shake Shack, a place that has garnered a lot of attention but ultimately fails to impress. The overall experience here leaves much to be desired. The food is decidedly average, with burgers that do not stand out in flavor or quality. Despite the hype surrounding the brand, the reality is that the burgers are just average. When you consider the price point, which exceeds $8.00 for a single burger, the value proposition becomes even more questionable. And let's be clear: this is not a large burger by any means, leaving many diners feeling unsatisfied after their meal. While it is true that the crinkle cut fries and shakes have their merits and can be considered enjoyable, the portion sizes are also lacking. Customers may find themselves wishing for a more generous serving, especially given the premium prices they are paying. The fries, while crispy and flavorful, do not make up for the overall lack of satisfaction that comes from the main offerings. In light of these factors, we strongly suggest that potential diners consider skipping Shake Shack altogether. There are numerous alternatives available that offer better quality food at a more reasonable price point. In fact, many local burger joints and fast-casual restaurants provide delicious options without the hefty price tag associated with Shake Shack. Looking ahead, we have serious doubts about the longevity of Shake Shack's business model. Given the current economic climate and the increasing awareness among consumers regarding value for money, we do not believe that Shake Shack will still be a popular choice two decades from now. Their pricing strategy, which many perceive as outrageous, could very well lead to a decline in customer loyalty and patronage. As the food industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see if Shake Shack can adapt or if it will become just another fleeting trend in the competitive landscape of dining options. We recommend skipping this place.

  • McDonald's: What the Heck?

A McDonald's Location ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) This dark gray box of a building is emblematic of today's McDonald's, a stark representation of what the fast-food giant has become in recent years. It's a disgrace to the legacy that the brand once held, and it's shameful to witness such a decline in both aesthetics and service quality. What is their problem? McDonald's was once synonymous with quick service and a welcoming atmosphere, but now it seems to have lost its way. The once vibrant and cheerful environment has been replaced by a monotonous and uninviting structure that mirrors the lackluster experience inside. McDonald's is the home of terrible and bland customer service, a reality that has become increasingly apparent during our travels across various states. We have visited numerous McDonald's locations, and the common theme that emerges from these visits is a concerning decline in customer service standards. The employees at these establishments simply do not care about the experience they provide to customers. There is a palpable sense of indifference that permeates the atmosphere, making it clear that the staff are not engaged or motivated to deliver even the most basic level of hospitality. For instance, we literally pulled up to a McDonald's at the end of April 2025, filled with the hope of enjoying a quick meal. However, our expectations were quickly dashed as we did not receive a friendly greeting at either drive-thru window 1 or 2. No cheerful "hello," no acknowledgment of our presence—nothing. It was as if we were invisible, merely a transaction rather than valued customers. This lack of basic courtesy is not just disappointing; it's truly unacceptable. The absence of a warm greeting and genuine interaction is symptomatic of a larger issue within the company. We made another visit to McDonald's in May 2025 where we asked for the $5 Meal Deal which comes with a drink. We asked that the drink just be a cup of water. The cashier said that could not be done. Really? But then we could ask for a separate cup of water and that would be okay? The stupidity is astounding. McDonald's customer service raises questions about the training and motivation of employees, as well as the overall corporate culture that seems to prioritize speed and efficiency over customer satisfaction. In an era where competition is fierce and customers have endless options for fast food, one would expect a brand like McDonald's to invest in improving the quality of service rather than allowing it to deteriorate. The experience reflects a troubling trend that, if not addressed, could lead to further alienation of loyal customers who once cherished the brand for its consistency and friendly service. In many ways, it feels like McDonald's is too big for it's own good. Next, you have the terrible food quality that has become a significant concern among consumers. The Big Mac, once a symbol of fast-food indulgence, has notably shrunk in size over the years, leading many to reminisce about its former grandeur. This reduction in size is not merely a matter of perception; it reflects a broader trend in the fast-food industry where portion sizes have been adjusted, often to cut costs rather than to meet customer expectations. Additionally, the bread at McDonald's has undergone changes that have not gone unnoticed by loyal customers. Many diners have commented on the texture and buoyancy of the bread, which is markedly different from what it was in previous decades. The once soft and fluffy buns that complemented the savory layers of the Big Mac have been replaced by a bread that can feel stale or overly dense, lacking the lightness that many associate with a satisfying burger experience. This decline in quality raises questions about the overall ingredient sourcing and preparation methods, as well as the impact of these changes on customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. In summary, while McDonald's may serve its purpose as a quick and accessible option for a meal, exploring friendlier dining establishments can lead to discovering better tasting food and a more satisfying overall experience. It’s worth taking the time to seek out these local gems that not only nourish the body but also warm the soul.

  • Take 5 Oil Change and the Oil Change Business

Broken Oil Dipstick After Visiting Take 5 Oil Change ( RoadTour.Net  Photo) When hitting the road for a long journey, it is crucial to ensure that your vehicle is thoroughly prepared for the trip ahead. Preparation not only enhances your safety but also contributes to the overall performance and longevity of your vehicle. One of the most essential maintenance tasks to consider before embarking on your adventure is getting an oil change. This routine service helps to keep your engine running smoothly by ensuring that the oil is clean and at the proper level, which is vital for optimal engine function. However, it is equally important to be discerning when choosing a service provider for your oil change. Many quick oil change companies, while convenient, often hire staff who may lack the necessary training or motivation to perform the service with the care and attention it deserves. Since the vehicle they are working on is not theirs, there can be a noticeable difference in the level of commitment to quality service. This can lead to oversights, such as improper oil levels or the use of subpar oil, which can have detrimental effects on your vehicle's engine over time. In our experience at Take 5 Oil Change, we have encountered several issues that have left us dissatisfied with their service over the years. From a broken dipstick to leaving oil residue in the engine compartment. It is essential to seek out establishments that prioritize customer service and employ knowledgeable technicians who take pride in their work. Before you decide where to go for your oil change, consider doing some research. Look for reviews and testimonials from other customers to gauge the quality of service provided. Additionally, it may be beneficial to ask friends or family for recommendations based on their personal experiences. A little extra effort in selecting the right service provider can go a long way in ensuring that your vehicle is in excellent condition for the journey ahead. In conclusion, while getting an oil change is a vital step in preparing your vehicle for travel, it is just as important to choose the right place to have this service performed. By being vigilant and informed, you can help ensure that your vehicle is ready to hit the road safely and efficiently, allowing you to focus on enjoying your trip instead of worrying about potential mechanical issues. Take 5 Oil Change is a definite pass. Oil Residue After Visiting Take 5 Oil Change
