For the first time, we stopped by Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, and it quickly became one of the most memorable dessert experiences we’ve had. Founded in 1945, Handel’s has built its reputation on making fresh, handcrafted ice cream in-house every day—a tradition that is immediately reflected in the quality of every scoop. Unlike many modern ice cream shops, Handel’s keeps things simple. Many (not all) locations feature a walk-up ordering window with little or no indoor seating, putting the emphasis where it belongs: on the ice cream itself.
We decided to try the Banana Cream flavor, and it completely exceeded our expectations. It was incredibly rich, smooth, and creamy, with generous swirls that created the perfect gooey texture. Every bite tasted remarkably authentic, just like a slice of homemade banana cream pie. The balance of fresh banana flavor and velvety cream made it one of the best ice cream flavors we’ve ever sampled.
If you’re looking for premium homemade ice cream that’s worth going out of your way for, Handel’s deserves a spot on your list. Based on our first visit, we can confidently say we’ll be back to try more of their famous flavors. We highly recommend stopping by and experiencing Handel’s for yourself. They have great customer service which is the cherry on top!
